\n\nAn extremely relatable analogy was shared with me this week, and I think you can relate as well. How do you respond when life gets hard? What spills out of your heart and mouth? I received this in perfect timing, as I was feeling that deep mom exhaustion. I was frustrated with most of what got in my way. I realized after reading the analogy, that I was not filling my cup with the best choices. I was off track, and I needed to get back on immediately.

First, be sure you are taking care of yourself so that you are rested, strong, and equipped to handle these situations. When your kids act out, stop taking it so personal. They are kids, and they have a lot of stress on them. Stay calm, honest, and gently work to connect with them, instead of battle with them. It isn’t easy, but we can choose different approaches to encourage, guide, and connect with them.

Regardless of the circumstance, or situation, you have to always remember that you get to choose. Even if you don’t like what you have to do, you can choose a good attitude, and choose how you respond to what is going on. Don’t ever let anyone pressure you, or try to persuade you to choose something that you don’t want. You are responsible for your choices, so make sure it is what you want to choose.

It is easy to get upset or blame others for how they are treating you. But, if you are letting them treat you that way...they think you are ok with it. We have to speak up. Respect yourself. Respect your boundaries. So that others will respect you.

When I began my journey of saying no to things that were not filling my tank with good, I began to weigh every choice with God, my values, and where my energy was needed. This helped so much in saying no to things that were not good for me and my values. Because my decisions were grounded in God, I didn’t feel as guilty, or even that I needed to explain.

This is how I went from not liking social media, to learning how to set boundaries, enjoy, be inspired, and create lasting connections through social media. I created my own discipline, and learned how to change my feed for the better, and wasting less time on endless scrolling. There is so much good, but there can also be a downside for some of us. Let us all become more aware of how it makes us feel, and make a change if needed. It should be making us feel good, and helping us. You are not alone if it isn’t making you feel good. We discuss simple ideas to lift up our energy and mind health. Grace and gratitude are both important for your health. Remember, your season is not comparable to other people’s seasons. It is important to practice grace for yourself and others.
